Healthy Families NZ aims to improve health for communities by making change to the places where people live, learn, work and play. Healthy Families NZ was established by the Ministry of Health to address the increasing number of people impacted by preventable chronic disease in Aotearoa. With ten regional sites, Healthy Families Waitākere is the second largest site, with the opportunity to impact the lives of over xxx people living in West Auckland.
Healthy Families Waitākere work alongside the communities of West Auckland to think differently about the causes of poor health and to identify the changes we can make in our kura, workplaces, sports clubs, marae, places of worship and other key community locations, that will support individuals to make the healthy choice, the easy choice.
Based in Henderson, the team of 15 people offer an array of experience living, learning, working and playing in West Auckland.
A healthier New Zealand starts in the places where we live, learn, work and play. In healthier environments children learn better, workplaces are more productive, New Zealanders are healthier and happier, and communities are more sustainable.
Healthy Families Waitakere work with local community leaders to uncover the root causes of poor health, and to identify the changes we can bring to make the healthy choice, the easy choice for the people of West Auckland. We collaborate with community leaders to develop initiatives designed by, and reflective of, our community, and informed by strong evidence. Our work predominantly unites us with early childhood education services, marae, schools, workplaces, sports clubs and more.
Working together, we can create a healthier community now and for future generations.
