Members from Suburbs Rugby Club in New Lynn have been meeting with a number of other rugby stakeholders to talk about the role of rugby contributing to community health and wellbeing as part of our Rugby Network facilitated by our Settings Coordinator Tu Nuualiitia.

Initiatives that came out of the Rugby Network meetings involved a "Rugby Club as a Hub" concept and replicating the NZRL Play Group initiative.

Suburbs Rugby launched a play group on November 1st with support from NZRL Playgroups and are the first rugby club in New Zealand to do so.

We look forward to more sports clubs starting play groups as a way to contribute to health and wellbeing for their members and local community.
