Fifteen West Auckland community organisations provide food banks and will now be giving more than just food, they will be passing on life skills so families and individuals may provide for themselves.
The food bank providers who have formed a network, came together to learn 5 cheap, easy recipes that will feed a family of 6 for a total of $30 a week. The session was delivered by Diana Neru from Kai Time - a wananga aimed to increase whanau confidence to cook healthy affordable kai.
Our Activator Michele Eickstaedt connected the food bank network with Diana (also our Kaiwhakahau) and sourced cooking equipment donated from The Warehouse Lincoln Road and The Warehouse West City.
Other supporters on the day included Maximus Fitness, Waitemata Rugby Football Club and Compost Collective.
