One theme of the recent Ranui Matariki Business Breakfast hosted by Ranui Action Project and Ranui Library was sustainability and caring for Papatuānuku/the land.

Workplaces can play a role in reducing the amount of organic waste into landfill by composting. Our Healthy Families Waitakere Activators Jayshree Ramesh-Sukha and Tony Lafotanoa partnered with Compost Collective to bring composting to workplaces at the event.

Businesses could put their name in a draw to win an up-cycled compost bin – kindly donated by Compost Collective. We are pleased that Ranui Community Library are the winners of the draw and now connected with Compost Collective to look at the possibility of composting at work.

Healthy Families Waitakere Activator Michele Eickstaedt also presented on her work supporting Ranui Primary School to create healthier snack packs.
